i bought the drivetrain out of a 76 k20, and it had an np203, and what seems to be a D44 which is full-time. i need to know what parts i would need to get to swap it to selectable? would i need to buy a whole hub replacement kit like this one: http://www.4wheelparts.com/Drivetra...n-Kit.aspx?t_c=12&t_s=237&t_pt=5313&t_pl=8886

or would i be able to just use a warn or superwinch selectable kit? sorry, i'm a bit new to some of this stuff, just need a little guidance.

Take off the chrome cover, two snaprings, driveflange, spring and washer on both sides. Get a set of Warn Premium hubs for the front, install them and your Dana 44 will be part time.

You need a set of selectable hubs like these (Warn standard) a new set is about $100.:

Or Milemarker PN 423 (76 is the last year of "big hub" design IIRC). Only like 75$. Still good quality. Plus you can buy them at Oriellys/Advance?Autozone

alright thanks alot for the help everyone, i was just confused as to whether or not i'd need to replace or buy more than just the locking hub assembly. but the responses seem to clear this up and say that i don't need to buy extra stuff, which helps me out alot! thanks again!

i'll probably try the superwinch locking hubs since i've heard a couple people sing their praises. has anyone heard that these might be bad news? this truck is pretty much a DD, and will see some light offroading in the summer.

Just keep in mind that unless you also convert the transfer case to part time it is damaging to the tc to run it with the hubs unlocked,
"Owners of full time four wheel drive models (New Process 203 transfer case) often consider either removing the front driveshaft or installing locking front hubs and operating in a LOC position, as a means of improving gas mileage. This practice will submit the transfer case to stresses beyond its design limits and will void all warranties. Use of any lubricant additive in the transfer case is also not recommended."

it's alright, i'll be swapping it under my K5 with a NP208, so i won't be running full-time. i know not to run an open front end for extended periods of time when i'm in 4wd, that's just bad news
