Dana 44's were obviously made as right side drop and left side drop, NOT including HPd44's, the ring and pinion would be the same regardless of wether it was a left or right side diff?????Right????

Gears will be the same if low pinion but different if high pinion.

Cool, I was pretty sure but needed someone else to confirm it.

Are the carrier splits the same as a D60 ?

D 44 is different 3.73 and down and 3.92 and up.

Ok. I swapped a set of 44's from a 89 wagoneer into the 53 willys im building for my dad, they currently have some super high gears (2. Somethings ) I found a front 44 w 4.10's on Cl for $100 and I was thinking about picking it up and swapping carriers, it is opposite side drop, so I wanted to double check.

Should be ok. Check the spline count on the side gears in the spiders and make sure they are the same. Obviously going to have to check gear pattern as well as some axle housing will need to be setup different. Use the shims that are currently on that set and see if the pattern in gears is ok before running it.
