on the front D44's, theres a rubber seal you plop in place.. it sits next to the needle bearing for the inner axle shaft when it goes into the spindle. Do you place it cup facing away from the diff or toward the diff?

The inside lip faces the diff to help keep dirt and water out. If it were turned around the other way then it would allow dirt and water to enter much easier.

The "bowl/cup" as you put it would face the diff not away from it. Just imagine if you were trying to push water against it which way it would keep water from entering the best. If you try to push water against the lip it would not want to go but if you pushed water from the other side then water would want to pass through.

ah. gotcha. so the water gets in the bowl and helps seal it by puttin pressure on it. Bingo. so the cup/bowl faces the diff. THANK YOU! Just wanted to make sure. :D
