Hey guys, I will be installing a 3/4 ton setup soon and the d44 that is going in seems to have an elongated or slotted driver side spring perch hole (slot runs left to right). Some folks say it's from the factory to help with aligning the axle. Is this true? Or does this need repair? It would be good to know now before something tragic happens on the road...

I have the same thing on a 3/4 ton axle that is sitting in my garage!!! I originally thought that maybe the ubolts were loose on the old rig, and was going to weld it up, and start from scratch. I guess I will wait for some input also, or just measure from pin to pin, and go from there.
