D44 u-bolts the same as 10b??

Will u-bolts from a D44 work on a 10b??

aren't there 2 different ubolt setups for 44? The 2 5/8"(i think) and 3" tube setups. 3" will work fine I believe, or did I install a D44 with the wrong ubolts?

Yeah. I'll go check tomorrow. I know the spring plates are different. It is common practice to use the same U-bolts from 73 to 91 but they weren't the same from the factory. I always thought they were until I took the front axle out of my 73.

I very well could be wrong here but my 73 u bolts would not fit a 10 bolt but my bro in laws 78 44 u bolts fit an 84 10bolt just fine

The earlier D44's with the small bearing spindles and pass side flat tops usually have the smaller tube diameter and were used until some time around '75 then they switched to the larger tube D44 that is the same as the 10 bolt tube size.

Yup and I found out the hard way!! Had to miss a weekend of wheeling when I found out the U bolts on my 73 K20 werenarrower than the one on my 81 Blazer. I was swapping the lift on the blazer to the K20 and in my neighborhood I cant keep a vehicle on jack stands so I had to delay the work till I got another set of U Bolts.

I am mainly interested in the u-bolt that goes around the housing, anyone know about that one??

Second-design years (77-on up) will work on your 10 bolt. First design (76-and older) use a 2.75" tube diameter compared to the 3" newer ones.
