one of the wheel bearings in my 77 took a crap and i didnt have enough money to buy new ones. so since my blazer has new bearings with 6 lug hubs, i thought i would switch hubs out because it'll be swapped to 8 lug before it sees the road again. so when i went to switch out the hubs, they didn't fit. the hubs off my 77 d44 (which isnt the original d44, i think its outta 75/76) woulnt fit on the spindles on my blazer that has the d44 that came from my 77 p/u. the inner bearing in the hub from the d44 that's on the 77p/u was too small for the spindles on the blazer so i swapped out spindles so it would get me to work. which leaves me wondering, when i swap the 8lug hubs on to :1zhelp: my blazer, will the inner bearing be too big for the spindles i have on it? or are they the right spindles for the 8 lug inner hubs??? :1zhelp:

The difference is 2nd design (77-up even 10-bolt fronts) and 1st design (77-back). The older ones have the smaller inner breaings but the same seals and outter bearing. The spindle kit is also the same (BK1).

8-lug 1st design hubs use the larger external locking hub that bolts on.

can't afford replacement bearings?

I paid only about $60 for the bearings and seals to do both front wheels.

Which bearing failed? If it's the same as a stock 73 then I should have an extra lying in the parts pile.
