I recently bought a pair of d60 auto hubs on ebay, they are supposed to be new/never used. They do look like they have been installed, but not used. Anyway, are these things any stronger/better than the 10bolt auto hubs that are known to be problematic? I was thinking they might be worth using for street use in the winter time, considering they should work for a while (new).

Or I'll just keep them around for a while, as they may be hard to find for a resto years from now.

Not sure how strong they are, but i love having manual hubs now. Yes, you have to get out and lock them before you might need them. But when you need them, you know they are locked. And when you unlock them, you know they are unlocked. With auto's, you seem to backup a bunch, and never really know if they did their thing.

i got a pair ill give you for spares, you can sell em when the supply dries up! ive had two pairs and one set worked always.

Lol, I know about their problems when they get older, my burb had them stock. I only bought these ones because they were cheap and new. Years ago I priced new ones for my burb, they were around $400 EACH:doah:

Btw, I'm sorry to create such a noob thread, I was just curious if they were problematic even back in the day when these trucks were newer.

ive never had a problem with the light 4x4 times ive ever used it. its never been very important so i guess theyve held on. when the truck knows i need them, then theyll break.

You bought Dana 60 hubs for your 10 bolt?

If you could trust your passenger, i agree. Telling my gf to get out in teh snow/rain and lock the hubs.....not going to happen. :haha:

Nope;) Honestly, I bought them simply because I thought they were a good deal and they might come in handy some day. It's a problem I've had for years. BUT, I recently picked up a d60 from a member here, and I should be picking up a K30 this weekend, so it got me thinking.

Can you post a picture of those Dana 60 auto hubs? What were they originally for? Who are they made by?

Will do. Not sure who made them, but they were made optional in the 80's sometime.

is it these?
