Im looking into upgrading my d60s axle shafts and u-joints, ive seen the factory ten shafts and many others, my 60 is locked. So i need something thats strong enough for 400-450 hp plus having it locked. I run in alot of concrete thick mud and some good trails here in pa. My axle is welded at the monent but it will be getting a detroit instead. Also not sure on what u-joints to get.... some helps greatly appreciated since i know you guys have been through this.......
thanks..

For the money, the spicer joints are the best. Obviously if you got the dough, the previously stated joint would be better.

As long as you have the inners that DONT neck down, id just upgrade the outers to some 35 spline stubs w/ either drive flanges or lockouts of your choice.

Heres a good site for 60 parts: https://www.4wdfactory.com/store/

Yukons were snapping before ever being installed a while back. People were very unhappy with them. Everybody wanted the Alloy USA axles, myself included but you could not get them to save your life. I got my inner Alloys in a month from ordering but waited SEVEN god damn months only to settle for yukons. Ofcourse I have not ran them as my stuck is still under construction. What I figured I will do before I ever run the yukons and the Alloys for that matter is to have them Cryogenically cold treated. If there weak then that will help. Not to mention I have herd Cryo treating is pretty affordable. I kept an artical Petersens 4 wheel and off road had on Cryo treating and the company they used. Also there have been plenty of threads on it on Pirate 4x4.

Well, I have to admit, I put a serious beat down on Yukons and CTM joints today with no issues. Both the shafts and joints are over 4 years old and have been hammered on extremely hard with no issues. They are in a high pinion front with GM outers. The rig is about 500 pounds lighter then my K5 but they took everything I tossed at them. The only bad part about the Bobby Long joints is you can only get them through him so there is no cheaper price.

I have a set of Factory 10 shafts with spicer joints in my 60 right now. Have yet to torture them yet, waiting to get my front shaft lengthened.

I have my stock axles with new spicers and warn premiums, but with taking the axle all apart to put the locker in i was thinking of upgrading. But is it better to buy 30 spline axles so then if i brake em i have mine readily as spares and also i can have my stock hub for a spare....or is it dumb to upgrade like that and go to 35 spline since they are a little heavier.

Also how about upgrading drive shafts...? What size did you guys go to and where did ya have em done..?.....1350-1410..?

I say upgrade. Reason being is they will fail when you need them most and might not be the ideal place to have to replace one. Mine is 35 spline Spicers along with Spicer joints and I know it's just a matter of time. As for the driveshafts, on the rear I have a High Angle 1350 CV and 1350 joint at the axle. The front is a custom made by me square tube with a D60 joint at the t case and 1410 at the axle. I will be changing it when I do the Atlas 4 spd t-case. I will then run a 1350 cv up front with 1410 at the axle.
