This is my first D60 so bear with me here....i know it may sound stupid!

When looking down at the caliper, there is a giant torx bolt. I noticed that mine dont seem to be all the way down and there is a bit more it could be threaded down. I only started looking because when I go over bumps the calipers rattle and clang like a son-of-a-bitch and its annoying the hell out of me! :doah: When I grab the caliper by hand and try to move it I can actually hear the noise that I am talking about....

With that said, will tightening that torx bolt help my problem? Or is there something else I should be looking at? Bear in mind I havent taken the front wheels off yet, I was just doing some quick inspection....

Sounds to me like you are missing the spring that goes between the caliper and the plate that the torx you are looking at holds in.

thanks for the quick reply! That link didnt work, was it a part number for the spring? Does anyone have a pic of the top of a "correct" chevy d60 caliper for reference?

I have the same problem with my drivers side caliper. The caliper mounting bracket is worn/rusted to the point where no spring would take up all the play. I either have to replace the bracket or weld and grind to restore the original clearance. It's irritating but I've learned to live with it.

Strange it works for me on another computer. Anyway go to Kragen's online store and search for H5519. It is a kit that is the plate and spring it cost like $2.
