whats everyone doing for runnin 4.56 or lower on a 4.10 carrier? i know you can run a spacer, but at 80 bucks (cheapest i could find it) makes me wonder why not put a little more toward it and et a full detroit, since i got to order a lockrite also. anyone know any cheaper ways?

Use thick gears. I just bought some 4.56 thick gears for my 14bff 4.10 carrier for 100 bucks off ebay.

I got a 4.10:1 carrier (detroit locker) with a THICK set of 4.88:1 gears (no spacer), on my Dana 60 front and my 14 Bolt.

i thought they only made thick gears for reverse cut 60's? who has a good deal on thick gear yukon 4.56's and install kit?

I bought the detroit carrier replacement.. (whatever that means) and 4.56's plus a rebuild kit all from randys ring and pinion... everything came and went in just fine...

IMO i would just buy an empty open carrier, my friend just did that to go from 4.10s to 4.88s in his D60...i found them for around $100...

summit has the spacer for 45bucks...i just got one from them....that's the route im giong on my other axles...im going 5.13 on them...and when i install the powerlock in my DD rig...im gonna do the same thing...it even comes with new bolts and all....

I found an open 4.56 and up carrier on evilbay for $65 including shipping. I'm going that route.

I'm running a ring gear spacer on mine. I got mine from here for around $20 shipped. PORC has them also give them a call, I can't find them on the site. IIRC $45

Can you go the other way, 4.10 gears on a 4.56 carrier?

IIRC there are some "thin" gears to run higher gears on that carrier. Donno what ratios or if they are available for LP and HP.
