Alright, today's question is regarding building cross-over steering...
1. what steering box do I need?
2. what size tube for the drag link etc. (1 3/4"?)
3. what the crap is a bungo?
4. do 'bungo's come in various sizes?
5. anyone have any high steer arms for my app?
thanks!!!

Where did you hear that term?

You need a steering box from a 2wd truck close to the same year as yours.

1.75" is about as big as you should go. Between 1.5-1.75" is pretty normal. This is also somewhat dictated by what size tubing your tube inserts were made for.
This is how my old rig was setup. 1.5x.188 wall sleeved with 1.75x.120 wall. Should give you an idea what 1.75 stuff looks like.

Bungo, I have no idea what that is? Do you mean bung?

What arms you get depends on what style steering you want to run. You basically need to decide if you want your tie rod in front of the axle in the stock location, or above the springs and behind the axle. Then you can pick out your arms.

Check out http://www.wfoconcepts.com/Steering/Dana60/listing.html for steering stuff. Trevor makes some bad ass parts. :D

Must be "bung..." LOL, my bad, when the term was thrown at me we were in the shop and it was kinda noisy...

Thanks for ALL the repsonses, I'm ready to get this thing bolted in and tired-on!

Also got to thinking, and sorry for this "dumb" question. BUT, How close of a year range on the 2wd steering box? Are we +/- 4 years? 73-78? Maybe just a little more clarification and I think I have a good hold on this.
Thanks again.

there is 3 boxes.

old 73-?? small input shaft. flared hose ends .

then ??-late 70's early 80's reg input shaft size and flared hose ends.

then 80's -up reg input and changed to oring seal on hoses.

all bolt up the same to the frames and take same pitman arm 2x4 or 4x4.

but look out for the old style small splined input box. unless your truck has 1.

One more question I just thought of. The "small" splined box, are you talking about the splined output shaft going to the pitman arm?

no the input shaft from the steering shaft. there was a smaller one for a few years. then thay bumped them up in size.
