Are the bearing hubs for Ford, Dodge, and Chevy interchangable? What about ball-joint style Ford D60 hubs?

On a king pin D60 - Chevy & Dodge interchange / Ford is different (shorter).

Sorry, I have no idea about Ford or Dodge ball joint axles.

I almost forgot, even though the Chevy and Dodge will physically interchange only the 89-91 Dodges use internal locking hubs like a Chevy. All pre 89 Dodge hubs use an external type locking hub.

I just noticed the other day that my D60 carrier bearings are the same as the inner wheel bearings. Not helpful, I realize, but I thought it was mildly interesting. :dunno:

Trivia... the race is different. On some 35 spline stub axle swaps the stub rubs the locking hub dial causing it to turn and/or "lock" going down the road. By installing a carrier bearing race for the inner wheel bearing the bearing hub assembly is pushed outward approx 1/8" eliminating the stub/hub contact.

I didn't compare races - it didn't occur to me that they might be different. I'll have to keep that trick in mind if I ever get 35 spline outers. :D

Sort of hijack here....

What brand of hub is on a stock 86 D60, red dial. I think thats a spicer?

Originally it should be a Warn style hub (no Warn markings because it's an OE hub). Being a red dial it is a Ford version, GM axles used black dials.

That said, a Spicer style hub looks like the one in my avatar (yellow knob = GM, red = Ford).

So, me getting the hubs with the hex nut that screws into them to keep them in the locked or unlocked possition was a good idea.

so how about ford f250 TTB front wheel hubs, those look an awful lot like the chevy single wheel hubs and i know they use the same lockouts.

but are the wheel hubs interchangable? fi so that would save me LOTS of moneys.

TTB D50 and Ford king pin D60 bearing hubs are the same but both are about 5/8" shorter than the Chevy/Dodge versions so they will not interchange. You're right, all axles we've discussed use the same locking hubs.
