I just spoke with someone and they told me I could get a D60 from his friend that owns a salvage yard for $150 to $300. He said that it would not have the gears in them. Just axles.

1. The gears he is referring to would be the gears that will need to be changed for my bigger tires anyway, correct? 4.56 to 4.88 or 5.13?

2. Would this be a reasonable price for such a thing?

If I decided to swap, what all would I have to change out?
different Ubolts?, different steering setup?, different drakelines?.
any thread links?

A little advise for a NoOb. (whatever that means):D
Thanks

just get it, take it home, snap some pics, and well tell you whats up with it. People around here sell bare housings for that price and if your 60 comes with everything but gears, then get it.

drakelines?????????

huh, brake lines, or drivelines. Oh and yes, both will need modifications of some sort.

even if it is missing the carrier it could still be a good deal. see if you can get some pics of what is there.

make sure it has the carrier bearing caps. rebuilding from top to bottom should cost around 1K and probably less it you stuck with the stock shafts.

Want me to come up and take a look at it with ya?
If all that is missing is the ring/pinion, even 400.00 is a good deal IMO(as long as everything else is there)
