I installed the "newer" design inner axle seal in my Dana 60 a few weekends ago. They where a little tricky to get in but no real issues. Before I put them in, I tried to slide them over the axle and it was a very snug fit. My question is: When I try and push the axle in, will it push the seal out of position?? Or does the carrier hold the seal in place?? Am I explaining this correctly?? :doah:

thanks

The seal is supposed to be pressed into the housing/end of the axle tubes. If you did not do it that way then pull the carrier out again and redo it.

Sounds like you done it right. Not sure if the chunk helps back the seal or not but when I insert the shafts I am always careful pushing it thru that seal. Don't just keep slamming it in there till it goes.
