just wondering if you can remove the kingpin from the top with the knuckle still on? i ordered kingpin sets, and ended up only getting the lower bearing and seals. kinda need to throw it together for now, but one of the kingpins is kinda pitted. just wondering if I can change it later on without taking the whole knuckle loose again.

not sure if i understand, but if your just trying to get the king pin off, you can get it off with the knuckle still on.

You can get the lower off no problem. The upper will fit through the hole in the Knuckle. But it is a bear to thread out without the knuckle in the way, much less with it there.

Yes, the king pin can be removed with the knuckle still on. Just make sure you use the correct tool for the job, also those king pins torque to 600 ft/lbs.

Minor Hijack: How do you reliably torque something to 600ft lbs?

E-bay is your friend. :D I bought that wrench off E-bay and ended up with it for 142.00 including shipping. Then sent it out for calibration for 75.00. :thumb:

I've had a TQR600 for somewhere around 20 yrs., needed it for work have used it for many king pins.

I borrowed a torque wrench w/ a capacity of 1000ft/lbs and used a 3/4 drive adapter form the 1". Then bought a 7/8 hex wrench and cut off 3" and used that w/ a 7/8 socket on top.
