i was installing the lock right in the front of my jimmy and the instructions say to put the smaller spring inside the bigger one.there is no way the small spring will fit:doah::doah:.can it be run with just the larger one since the springs just hold the pins in place?

I've never messed with a Lock Rite but would it be possible to screw the smaller spring into the bigger one?

tried that last night.i could push them together with a set of pliers but then they wouldnt compress any

Lol if you got them to fit with pliers than thats it thats how it goes. Just cause you can compress it doesnt mean your motor wont :D

My advise is just to yank the carrier. I fought like all hell to try to do it without removing it and I said F it. Saved me so much aggravation.

i ment by pressing the springs together from the side.not putting them in the locker.with them pushed together like that there is no room between the coils for them to compress

When I did my 44 I can tell you the springs definitely fit inside each other. They combine to the right springs rate so if you dont get the right ones your axle is gonna unlock way too easy.

I just put a lockrite in my dana 60 and my springs fit inside each other, it should be real easy, if not you prob got the wrong springs.

Not trying to be a smart a$$, are you slipping one spring down the center hole of the other? I read one thread one time where a guy was trying to slide one into the side of the other like shuffling a deck of cards.

You do need both sets of springs.

No he's doing it right, they springs are nearly the same size

Yeah definitely got like two sets of big spring or something. Give them a holler they'll probably send you a spring replacement kit for free.

just talked to them and they are sending a new set of springs.
tryin to get this thing ready for our 9 day trip.its getting close.

Hard to see with all the red grease, but my little spings fit down inside the big springs no problem.

With the correct springs it should be the easiest part of the assembly process.

If it helps, I did a little write up on the install here.
