Does anyone have the part number for the seals one can use to seal off the outer ends of a D60? I saw this somewhere, but lost the info. It would achieve something similar as those Mad4wd outer axle seals.

I think they are only available from Mad4wd. I could be wrong, but I've never seen them offered anywhere else.

It was a conventional oil seal. I went and did the measurements on the alxe last night. I'll stop by the local bearing supply and check out the parts book for a seal that will fit.

I bought the Mad4wd ones anyways, and later remembered about the conventional seals. I"ll post my findings if I find something.

I suppose I hadn't thought of that. If you have all the dimensions, chances are good they'll have one. The advantage I see to the Mad4wd version is the area that holds grease.

Or you could use two conventional oil seals and pack the area between them with grease. You would have the same overall concept, except in a two piece assembly.

I might put a conventional oil seal in deeper, maybe 1" past the Mad seal, and thereby have 3 outer seals. I think that should provide some good water/mud protection.

If your old axle shafts have normal rust or surface pitting, I think any of the above seals will get chewed up fast by surface irregularities, therefore it may be best do these seals with new axle shafts. Something I didn't give thought to until I pulled my axle apart and saw the shaft surfaces.
