I am looking at a 1977 k30. The guy sent me a picture but the front axle didn't have locking hubs. It is a 4 speed, dually work truck. Did chevy put drive flanges on the older d60s such as this one??

Wasn't sure and didn't want to drive there if they never did. Thanks.

yep thay did offer fulltime 4x4 on the k30's but the 465/203 combo was 2 year only and before these from factory.

look just like the 1/2 ton full time 4x4 dust caps but BIGGER and not chrome like some 1/2 ton models.

tell him to send you pics of were the ball joints / king pins are.

true dana 60 of our style has NO ball joints . there will be 4 bolts per area were a huge castle nut would be if it was ball joints.

and pass side diff pumkin there will be 1 ubolt and 2 big bolts were the second uboult would be on smaller 10 bolt and or dana 44 axles.

Do they all have the "D60" cast into the pumpkin on the web on the lower right when looking at the front of the diff?

should. but thats small and hard to see .

easy to see 3 ubolts and bolt on king pin caps over ball joints tho.

I bought a complete running '77 K30 for the D60 which had drive flanges along with a 4 speed. It was an old farm truck and have no reason to believe they ever changed any parts or modified it, but can't guarantee it. Never verified what t-case it had...long story.....

What did the hubs look like?
There were automatic hubs for the dana 60 as well, but I think it was pretty rare.

No they would be flanges. I am going to look at it saturday so I'll post. It is a 77 but it is a 1 ton dump, so they may have been but in the later mdel as this one. Or it could have been swapped, or it may not even be a 1 ton. I figured it would be best to go take a look and see what it is.

dont forget the first few years had neck down inner shafts. little weaker than later versions.

can be swaped over easy later with newer ones.

but good info for price bargining . :thumb:

Okay so it was a full time 4 wd looks to be factory, but I cannot be 100% certain. Maybe for dump trucks they carried over the full time longer. The 203 has a pto which power the dump. Neat truck for the money. Would love to have a cummins to put I it.

Pics to follow.

yep full time drive slugs .

but 205 tcase by that style sifter.

crall under and take a look/pic and post up.

also the front springs are NOT stock. small lift or aftermarket hd stuff.

It is a 203. Same shifter on the 203 in my blazers. 205 shifter is different.

But also crawled under and made sure, id rather have the 205. Will post a pic of the 203 but just took a shower so it may be a few days. Springs are probably hd because it was probably intended to have (or had) a plow on the front.

BEST MAKE SURE . . .

203 used a 2 bolt chrome shifter like a old 4 speed car shifter.

205 used a round stock like in your pic.

and some older 205 used the 4x4 diagrame over the 2hi/4hi/n/4low info .

someone is wrong here and best to find out first and learn from it . i wana know to be sure also. :thumb:
