so i got my 60 in my truck finally, rebuilt tip to tip. but i cant seem to get my hubs (OEM spicers) to engage easily. i no how they work etc. but i just cant get the outer ring that slides forwards to slide easily so the hubs dont like engaging,i have to fight with them for about 10 mins. the spring is good,i clean it all out/regreased everything and still no luck. i also made sure i have both ramped sides of the hub facing eachother and thats all good. anyone experience this? any tips? i almost want to file each and every spline a bit:doah:

Dab a little bit of grease on all the moving parts.

Do NOT go overboard with the grease. Only very minimal dabbing. Just coat everything with your fingertip.

tcase in 2wd or 4wd when trying to lock hubs ?

always tcase in 2wd to lock or unlock hubs. takes all the binding out of the front end parts.

well i figured a lot of grease was good so i put a ton in there lol now that i think about it,i can see how a lot of grease would basically block the hub from sliding. ill give that a try! but i do keep my truck in 2wd to keep the tension off it. thanks for the tips!

When I put mine on my 86, I just cleaned them real good, and gave `em a little touch of grease. They are so easy to turn now, my 4 y/o could do it.

ya,hopefully thats the answer to my problem. tomorrows weather is looking better so i should be able to do that tomorrow. ill let you know if it works!

so i took apart the hub, cleaned it,put a dab of grease on all the moving parts. and still no dice...so i did some investigating and found out the spring that pushes out the other ring is actually getting caught up on the groove right behind the splines on the wheel hub. the spring is perfectly straight. looks just like the spring on the other side that works. now im kind of puzzled on how to fix this?:doah: a couple times the spring actually just stayed in there completely when i took out the outer ring so i could see how it was trapped in there. im going to try and find another spring and see how that works i guess
