For Sale: one set of used Dana 60 30 spline Spicer locking hubs. The knobs are a little rough but fully functional and the stub gears do NOT have grooves on the back side. This set is complete except for o-rings and bezel screws (available via the "Help!" product line).

not to be a dick buddy but thay arnt goin fot that much these days. guy on ebay has a set done up to 35 spline for about 50 more he cant sell 3 times now. :doah:
good luck tho. :thumb:

I'm open to reasonable offers but I'm not giving them away like the last ones I sold. ;)

not trying to be a dick but y use a set of dana lockouts? arent the warn ones stronger?

The Spicers are widely recognized and the strongest hub on the market short of a drive flange

hum didnt know that. never texted it or had a set ive always had all wheel drive trucks.

spicers are steel on steel inside. and if the dial fails thay go locked NOT open.

thay can be broched out to 35 spline and still be much much stronger than warn 35 splines.

warn hubs are not what thay use to be back in the day. only real diffrence between std and prem i see these days is a stupid gold dial.

How can you identify Spicer lockouts?

For me, the chrome bezel was the easiest thing to learn. Check out the pic in the first post and my avatar, between those you should be able to pick them out of a line up. :thumb:

nvrenuf has the 1ton style for his avatar pic.

here is the 1 ton dana 60 stuff

pic#1 = real nice clean set of spicers with new yellow dials. in this pic you can see the inner gear setting in the outer gear. there both solid steel and make up a drive slug basicly when engaged and or if the dial ever failed the default position is locked in to the drive position. unlike warn hubs that drop out to free wheel.

pic#2 = close up of gm dial (spicer) yellow new dial good used body = on my plow truck

pic#3 same as pic#2 but in centercap of western wheel rim on my plow truck

pic#4 = ford version pink dial fadded red and ( ford ) in the middle. all the same parts just red plastic dial

pic#5 = stock 30 spline inner gear left and broched out to 35 spline inner gear right. mad mac on pirate4x4.com or his shop web site http://www.cmperformancemachine.com/store/home.php?cat=259

EDIT : mad mac has had some problems with mebers here and pirate with shipping times and stuff. check first to get solid answer or find someone else. start around post # 141 and read on. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=682367&page=6

the last year for the factory installed spicers was 1980 on gm and i think ford also. and dodge didnt run these as thay had the external bolt on hubs or drive flanges. so its ford or gm only. dont ever pass up a set thay sell easy all the time. and if you find parts dont pass them up also sometimes the parts bring more than a whole set if sold seperate.

pic#1 = parts blow up and order of assembly on a 1/2 -3/4 ton set. same order on 1ton.

pic#2 = ford red dial std duty warn hubs. NOT spicer notice the body is bigger chrome outside and set down in screws. gm version same but black dial. and warn replacements all black dial.

pic#3 = warn inner body. spring loaded lock gear defaults to open NON LOCKED position unlike the spicers go locked.

pic#4 = backside of warn inner body. diecast aluminum body basicly slag aluminum . and much thinner gear than the spicer inner gear. just picture the 35 spline inner gear of warn hubs.

Most descriptive reply ever! Thank you :D

So what makes these things fail? For now I have to stock 10bolt that won't engage the front wheels (forward drive shaft still spins though) and I'm hoping it's a bad lockout.

Now just out of curiosity (since when I upgrade to the D60, I'll want to rebuild everything) why choose the spicers over a drive flange? I understand the ability to free the hub but why would being locked all the time be bad if the front diff is unlocked/open and you're not in 4Hi/4Lo?

nvrenuf has the 1/2 - 3/4 ton internal style for his avatar pic.

No sir, my avatar is a pic I took of one from a set of new D60 Spicers I used to have.

Note the difference in bolt holes, D60 hubs are cut out all the way to the edge where as 1/2 & 3/4 ton hubs are simple holes.
