How deep do you drive the inner bearing into the spindle on a D60 front? This is the little bearing the stub shaft rides on.

BTW, what manual do I need to buy to have this type of info on hand?

It is not a very positive stop, you need to only put it in deep enough so that the v block seal that sits on it makes contact with the thrust washer on the stub shaft.

Okay. So I may have gone too deep already. :doah: The seal will currently sit in almost flush with surface. It will seal against the stub shaft, but probably not make much contact with the thrust washer. Wonder if I can move it back out without ruining it...

I'm either confused or getting mixed messages. I read on another forum that it's not important how deep it's in. Can someone tell me for sure if it matters how deep the spindle bearing is set in? Does the grease seal need to be pushed into the thrust washer by the bearing in order to function, or is the important sealing against the stub shaft anyway?

It seems like it must not be critical, since the CUCV manual doesn't say anything about it, neither does the write-up on pirate.

I'm not confident I can pull them back out without wrecking them, and the kit's are $30 each.
