D60 Steering Arm stud install ?

Do the stock studs go in with the portion with the most spline up or down? There is about 1" of thread on one side and 1.5 on the other. I currently have the short thread side down and am having trouble getting the arm to seat all the way(still off by 1/2-3/4 inch.

think i figured it out. with the long thread end in the knuckle, it leaves just barely any thread sticking out of the nuts on top of the arm. I also found out that the ORU arms are not drilled big enough to fit over the stock studs. You have to enlarge the holes to fit over the non threaded portion of the stud.
