D60 stupid question

are all 12 bolt frontends D60? My neighbor once told me that his chevy truck had a 12 bolt frontend (this guy can also be a bit of a pathological lier)... I'm pretty sure he would sell it to me, or even the whole truck (no motor), for cheap.. If it is a D60, what all would I need to unbolt? how hard would it be to make it work with my STOCK steering on my K20?
if this isn't really a D60 on his truck, what are some good donor trucks to look for? I suppose the spring perches have to be relocated??


sorry for the common post, but I didn't even bother shearching Dana 60 because those words have probably been used in every post ever made.

There is no "12 bolt front end"... period.

D44's, D60's and (of course) corp 10 bolts all have 10 bolts on the covers.

Dana 44's, Dana 60's and 10-bolts all have exactly 10 bolts holding the cover on.

12 bolts were REAR diffs only!

there is a 12 bolt front end, it was custom made, prolly only one done, i cant find pics anywhere though. just like the 14 bolt front end. but no there was never a factory 12 bolt.

hey 78 sub where in GA are you?

you will only find a D60 in chevy and GM K30's the GM's might be called k35's

1991 was the last year for the D60 in a gm truck.

just to throw my 2 cents worth in the ring... had a guy tell me that the truck i was buying had 1 ton dana 60's under it... but when i questioned him and told him it appeared to me it had 14ff and 10b 8 lug he said yes.. some people do not know/lie about what they have. i was amused none the less.
