Has anybody have the problems with the 35 spline stub shafts not fitting into the knuckle ? The ears look like a 1/8 to 3/16 would have to be taken off to fit inside ?

I have a ford hp60 and a Dodge D60 ,shafts were bought for both axles and they have the same problems.

Anybody any info ?

Typical problem, call the place you got them from to make sure but everything I've heard makes it sound like they'll still warranty them if you grind them to fit.

You can usually grind the knuckle to make them fit, doesn't take much usually.

Every single Yukon shaft I have put in has this problem.

glad i read this, i will be putting in these this weekend, are you guys grinding the c..?

also seen somewhere about them making the hubs lock also by being too long.

Dumb Indians are still getting the OD casting dimensions wrong after all these years. Im sure the metallurgy is great too :surepal:

Here is what the shafts look like

Left to right

1. Ford casting with square edges.
2. Dodge that had less than the ford
3. dodge that had the edges milled down.

The castings are way different in many ways ,just thought I would post some pics so you know ahead of time.

I would think grinding the knuckles would be better than the shafts....

also if you have to change a shaft in the middle of nowhere..the clearance is already done..

Yeah I dont know, I feel more comfortable grinding the shafts. The spindle and knuckle is suppose to fit perfect. Plus it seems every Yukon Chevy shaft is like this, so who ever is carrying an extra shaft hopefully already thought of this. Or maybe they grinded their knuckle:dunno:

You don't grind very much at all off the opening of the knuckle. And just in two places. The spindle still fits on there good. Just like it would normally. I have put in probably 20 of these shafts both 44 and 60 and we grind the knuckle every time

Do yourself a favor and buy shafts made in the USA. Shafts made in India are junk! The fact that they dont fit without grinding is a dead giveaway. They have had this problem for years and have done nothing to fix it. That gives you an idea of their main concern: profit over quality.
