D70

Dana sold replacement 35 spline shafts for the dodge 70.
I think they were $225 but cant recall.
I got mine from Reider so I could run the 4.88s and detroit
the shafts were on back order and took a couple of months to get.

I ment the add is prob wrong-ARB even says they don't make one.

BranndonC - make sure that the width is what you need , some Cab Chassis where ordered on a very narrow width to accomidate different bed assy's. Ford also offered several truck designs for the "Industrial" market that offered all kinds of wheel to wheel lengths- so get a measurement to make sure it is what you need .

Fr8train - I agree with you about John Sweet (Nvrenuf) , he is very resourceful and knowledgeable about the H.D. 70's .

MJ - I did not know that Dana offered stock shafts as a replacement for the 32's . That is great ! I suggested that some folks go get a set from Moser when they wanted to upgrade but if Dana has acknowledged this that is great.

BranndonC - Good luck on your project , Tom

Thanks for the kind words, Drew! I'm glad I was able to help you with your stuff, I can't wait to see the finished product!

I firmly believe the 14 bolt is a great axle, I ran one for almost 15 years in my play truck. TARussell sold on the advantages of MAJOR gear so now I'm going all Dana in the K5 I'm building. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

well guys, the original seller backed out /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif BUT i found one at a local junk yard from a 72 F350 and i don't think it's dually, not sure how to tell though. I have hummer rims with 4.5 BS so i want to know if i should look into the d70 more?

I have a Dana 70 HD out of a early 80's GM pickup that i bought from Kidjethro. Its a dually rearend, if your interested i'll sell it to you for cheap.

thanks for all the great help guys, i'll save this post if i do decide to tackle a d70 in the future, for now it's an open 14FF.

I've got both in my yard. There about the same width but the FUrd perches are narrower. Ican give exact dim. if you need.

THey are about the same width. The furd has perches about 1 1/2" closer.

Go with a Detroit. Bullet proof and not bad to drive when you get used to it. And le$$ than an ARB!
