DaBurb grinding when I put it in park at full stop

Sounds like you may have issues with the parking pawl.

I don't know shit about automatics, but just a suggestion to look at.

Nothing should be turning in the transmission at a "full stop"...so the park pawl shouldn't make any grinding noises..
Now,if you had the transfer case in neutral or the rear wheels off the ground and got things spinning in the transmission--THEN you'd get a grinding when you put it in park, without applying the brakes first..

I almost think it may be a torque converter problem. It did a powerstall the other day at near idle

If the TC is in neutral or the rear differential is fragged or something else isn't holding it, an automatic transmission will spin the output when it's not in gear (and the parking pawl will make a grinding noise bringing it to a stop unless the engine is off). If you have a complete intact driveline and you're stopped, you KNOW the output of the transmission isn't turning, which means something besides the pawl is making noise. Does it do it in 4HI and 4LO?

If the linkage isn't adjusted right it will grind until it finds park. Cable shifters are notorious for that until you find a happy medium with them.

Alright, did some digging & found a thread on pirate. What those guys came up with is that in low/low the binding in the drive train lets loose & spins the drivetrain when you throw it in park. Makes perfect sense to me. I WAS in low low & the fact that I had not let my truck warm up & come off high idle exasterbated the effect. Freaking stoked that I don't have to pull my drivetrain apart for some unexpected tranny repair!!!

Then can't you just go from N to P quick enough that R doesn't engage?

That sounds like maybe the neutral safety switch is jumping power from the back-up light circuit to the starter.
Maybe I am not hearing it correctly, but..
I would try it with the engine off, and see.
Or unplug the reverse light plug from the switch, and try.

I should say try it with the ignition key on, engine off..
See if thou can tell if it bumps the starter.
