Its getting to the point where my K10 is becoming worse and worse with gas mileage, and im putting every single dollar i get into it. Since im going off to college pretty soon, i was thinking of putting it on the backburner and getting a different DD. college is going to drain me financially for sure and was hoping maybe i could at least get some decent gas mileage. I was thinking maybe an older S-10 or a truck of the sort. Comments? Suggestions? Thanks

I have a geo tracker for a DD.its convertable,4x4 and 30 MPG.
suzuki samuri is good too

I picked up a '93 probe GT cheap from a friend about a year ago ($800). 165 hp 24V V6, 4.10 gears, 5 speed, 27-28 mpg city, 32 highway (I get better mileage than the EPA rates this car). Dependable, good looks, fun to drive, good mileage, and best of all they are really not worth very much! To each his own but that is pretty much the best purchase I have made!

I have the same motor...

My 95 Ford Contour has that 2.5 "Dura-Tech" motor that your Probe has--its got an automatic with 3.77 gears--it goes like a raped ape once it winds up over 4 grand, and if you drive it normally I get 30+ mpg with it on highway trips..Its a bit doggy on hills unless you boot it into passing gear, but hey,for that kind of gas mileage I'm not complaing!..It will cruise at 80 like nothing, and I bet it will bury the needle on the speedo if I wanted it too!..I never liked Fords,or had one before this car--but I kinda like this one!..(until I have to fix it that is--its a nightmare under the hood! :eek1: ).. Beats the 10-15 mpg my 79 C10 gets, and 16-18 in my 6.2 82 K20...
