Well I think I'm fixin to be needing a new tranny for the Chalet. 400sb/th350/np203. Anyone know someone good in the DFW area who rebuilds transmissions or sells good remanufactured ones? I'm also a little short on time through the end of the year, so I might just pay a shop to do the swap. (Heresy, I know.) So any recomendations there would be great.

EDIT ******DON'T USE GRAPEVINE AUTOMATIC, THEY SUCK.

DO NOT go to A-1 Trans King. They have 2 locations. In louisville and garland. They never built my transmission right, ie it blew 4 times before i told them to stick it up their.......

Try Phoenix Transmissions in Weatherford. Give Greg a call. I have been running one of their 700R4s behind a 550hp bbc since 1996 with no problems.
Here is their website: http://www.phoenixtransmissionproducts.com/

Even if you don't use him, may be worth the call for tech ?s, as he has helped me over the phone troubleshoot other trans problems.

They're pricey. Mavbe I need to look for a mediocre transmission shop.:D

I used Eagle transmission at Plano rd and Forest Ln. 972-487-0070
when I had my blazer, they built me a performance th350 w/biggest cooler for $1k installed-only prob i ever had was the seal between the xfer case and tranny, and they fixed it at no cost 18 months later(warranty was 12 months 12 k miles)

For a th350 to be rebuilt your looking at 350-400...And can be more at some shops. A-1 trans king raped me by telling me to have it towed there and they will fix it, only for me to be charged 800 for pulling and reinstalling...

your looking at 1000-1200 for a good rebuild with installation.

Plano Transmission...75 and Plano Pkwy...972-423-3666...901 E Plano Pkwy, suite 121...

They built the 350 in my 79 that was pulling strong when I sold it 8 yrs later...they built the 700R in my 89 with All the goodies and I've had nary a whimper since 97. As far as I'm concerned, it's the Only shop I will ever use.

I will second Phoenix Transmissions, one of the best rebuilds we did on our Jimmy. Don't go cheap on a transmission, two cheap ones will get you one good.
