08 chevy avalanche 1500 4x4 .

Honda accord crossed center line and hit this one . look at the wheel/fender/door/rocker . the crash bar from the Honda door is wedged in there .

tore the steel frame apart but left the aluminum lower a-arm alone.

snapped the tie rod ear off the knuckle . still on the tie rod end.

popped the upper ball joint.

bent /torn frame and brackets.

c/v shaft and frt diff also toast.

all in the avalanche walked away .

newer stuff is pretty tuff I guess. :smirk:

head ons are the worse...

thank God for crumple zones...

As much as we frown at how much breaks now, it looks like it performed exactly as designed.

Crumple zones did their job, passenger compartment looks totally intact.

Don't want to think what a wreck like that would do to my truck. Probably less damage, and more injuries....

for sure Darren....I had a co worker get hit head on in his duramax...his wife suffered a broken foot, he got abrasions from the airbag and a stiff neck, it totaled the 2 yr old truck, killed the other driver in an Intrigue, that was a cut em out recovery from that car.

I should start taking pics of some of the accidents I work. You wont believe the lives that crumple zones save.

luckily no one was hurt. Driver of the truck that hit the kid in the Civic was plastered at 1pm. He was ok but went to jail.

how did that not go up in flames?

Yep, fuel tank not punctured. Very few cars burst into flames after an accident. Thats mostly Hollywood hype.
