Damm code 43!

That is an ohm meter correct? I am hoping it just a ground wire or something. Thanks!!
Most of the time it's visable.

One option to fix code 43 is in the PROM programming. Might not be the best option, but it will be a permanent fix for a code 43 from ever coming on again.

Man you can fix anything with a new chip! :doah:

Im taking it to a shop

A guy in our 4x club owns a shop. I was talking to him today about my damm code 43 problem. For $85.00 he will hook it to a scaner and find and correct the problem. Then whatever it costs to fix he will not charge for the diagnosis. So, if it is a couple hrs of labor to fix, he won't charge the $85.00, just the labor.

Question. What does a scanner tell you? Is it specific? Does it give more info than the paperclip deal? I need this fixed and I'm now willing to pay someone to do it.

Thanks!

Yes scantool is way more than paper clip. It is simalar to a laptop hooked to ALDL port and running software to watch the data.

Sweet! Thanks. I'm doing it. Then I'm buying one sometime. I see them on CL sometimes. I should grab one!

Well ****! I picked up the Burb from the shop lastnite. They had it for a few days. They couldn't find any problems with it. It drove home great. Then went for a ride this morning and the damm check engine light came on. I drove it for about 10 miles before it came on.
Code 43. WTF!

I PMed you my email address, if you email me I will send you the GM TBI codes with proper way to diagnose code 43...

OK since you have the TBI codes and diagnostic tests you should be able to determine the issue...

I am soo fedup with this damm code 43. How do I do this? What do I have to do. Would a local mechanic have the tool to do this?

CKT 439 is good.
CKT 486 is grounded.
There is a new knock sensor and new ESC module.

The PROM Chip needs to be re-programmed to eliminate error code 43 from coming on. I think most local mechanics, will not have the equipment to re-program a PROM Chip.

I can send you a custom programmed PROM Chip if you want. Send me a PM for details.

Local mechanic is going to do exactly what that TBI code chart does... I don't know of any mechanics that have chip burning equiptment. Except for new car dealers that get the PCM reflashed for updates... the ecm you have is not capable to do that at the dealer..

Dave, here is the lable from the ECM.

It is cured. No more code 43. I had Dave w burn me a new chip! From start to finish, dave burned and sent me an entire computer in about 32 hrs. He burned it on Sunday nite and overnited me the computer. It has a custom performance table, deleted EGR and deleted code 43. It now has better throttle response and runs better. If you need a custom burned chip and or computer, contact Dave w. Thanks Dave!!

Hi munepit, It's nice to hear things are working good with the computer and custom PROM. I think we were lucky the weather out here on the west coast, for the almost 900 miles the computer had to travel was good.

I also deleted code 42, knock sensor. I think the real key to helping out was when we talked on the phone and you commented that when error code 43 would set, the engine lost some performance like the timing was being retarded. Broadcast Code ACSW does not use "Burst Knock Retard", but maybe your OEM ACSW PROM was programmed to use "Burst Knock Retard"?:dunno: The custom PROM chip you have Does Not use "Burst Knock Retard". I really did not delete the EGR, the EGR will work should you ever decide to drive 255 MPH.:D

Glad I could help out,
dave w
