Well, first off, for anyone who doesn't know,I bought an 88 GMC Suburban last month and I'm in love with it. I've already bought a Kenwood CD player for it and I'm looking at lift kits for a winter project. :D

I'm so happy with this Sub in fact that Saturday night, I decided that I wanted to see how well it could kill a deer so I don't have to get out of the truck this winter during deer season! My wife, the dog and I were coming back from the lake about 10:30 pm cruising along talking about nothing in particular when I noticed movement on the left side of the road. As I was looking to my left, my very pregnant wife yelled out, "oh crap!", and there she was.

She was a majestic beast, good coloring, good muscle tone, beautiful coat, right up until I smacked into her at 45 mph and sent her flying 10 feet from point of impact. I was able to stop on the 2 lane road without locking it up and after we stopped moving, I asked Debbie if she was ok and after hearing "I'm good", I got out to survey the damage.

Believe it or not, the only damage was a dent in the front bumper the size of a pill bottle and a hole in the grill the size of my fist. That's all! I thank God we weren't driving her 95 Grand Am because as low as that thing sits and the way the hood slopes down, I'm almost certain that that deer would've been thrown up into the windshield and caused a lot more damage and maybe even injured one of us.

I LOVE THIS SUBURBAN!!!

Yup, gotta love 'em. However, I wouldn't tell people you were out to kill deer with that thing, they might get the wrong idea...

Years ago my mom was driving to work in our 2wd 85 sub, came around the corner and whamo! hit a deer! The only damage was the crap factory plastic grille and a headlight, otherwise it was fine. Later, we rear-ended a Honda Accord, totaled the car, but put a little crease in the fender and took out another headlight. We struck it at the side and took off the rear door of the Honda and spun it around, and we drove away.

I soo wish they hadn't sold that tank.:(

Sounds like a good excuse for a large bumper with a strong grill guard.

I really wasn't trying to hit the deer (poor attempt at humor), in fact, I was a mass of *$$holes and elbows trying to avoid it but it wasn't in the cards.

I do like the idea of a big heavy winch bumper with the grill guard on it so I don't lose anymore bits and pieces of "Fillmore". One other positive thing, my top passenger side headlight was a bit high and out of adjustment but after the impact, it's perfect!

what the hell are the deer called in montana, i recently took a trip up there and theyre nothing like deer here.

Trust me, my wife gave me a hard enough time already after I told her we could go back and get the meat. She said "NO!!".

Actually I think she threw in a few more adjectives, verbs and nowns before the no part, but you get the idea.

I think they're called Suburban Bait! :wink1:

Actually we've got white tail and mule deer here. There's more white tails around here, but we get a really good mix of all kinds of creatures here. I have pictures of a herd just 60 miles south of me where there must've been at least 1000 deer in an alfalfa field. I was going into shock looking at all the venison on the hoof out there!

Tehehehehe...southern boy is amazed at all our big deer here.:wink1:

First time I ever saw a deer in the south I thought it was a fawn.:haha:
