I've bought a real hefty arm for my 60 crossover, I need to have it beveled and drilled to .750 on the Hiem end. Thats not the problem I'm up against.
I've looked at many assembly instructions and can't seem to figure out how the new spring and bushing are supposed to fit under it. The arm has the four mounting bolt holes and a larger hole for what I assume to be where the spring and bushing and cap will go.

Anyone got a diagram or can explain how this works?

The bushing goes on the king pin and the spring goes on top of the bushing, put the arm on top of that with the cap inside and bolt it down. This is assuming the arm doesnt have the cap built in.

OK, that makes a little more sense. So the cap will fit inside the hole under the arm?

Yep.

It goes in this order- bushing, spring, cap, arm.

I would install it all in that order. Bolt it all down. Take a sharpie and draw a line around the cap where it meets the arm. Take it apart again and cut the cap a 1/4" or so under the line you drew, no less than a 1/4". Then just line up the line on the cap with the top of the arm and weld it on. Maybe position the cap 1/8" higher than the line you drew to account for the thickness of the cap that is no longer between the arm and the knuckle. That way your king pin preload would stay the same. Although, I'm sure an extra 1/8" of preload wouldn't hurt anything.

Like the ORD arms.

I'm going to have to see this thing in action before I understand the whole preload thing, I've never had one apart.

Let me get a free weekend, I got all these cool parts coming, and no time to get them all installed.

Either the 22nd or 29th of May, I'll be working on it then, any one who wants to come on over is welcome, I'll be buying lunch and Beverages for those that show.
