dana 44 gear setup

The Dana 44 in the rear of my blazer uses a crush sleeve for pinion preload.. Can a person uses shims instead of the crush sleeve... I took the gears out of another rear to have the gears for my front and it has the shoulder for the shims to sit against..

Rear in question is out of a Honda Passport..

Short answer is yes, it may take a while to get the right stack up though.

You really need a spacer.

Measure the crushed crush collar. Its a good place to start your shim stack instead of stabbing in the dark...

Think my first post was confusing... Im going to be changing the carriers out and thats when i was going to use shims instead of the crush sleeve...
