Just want to pick some brains here please so bear with me :D

I'm currently building a BBC for my 77 K5. My intent is to run some sand drags and do some high speed dirt/dune wheeling. I have purchased the following to aid in my endeavor:

- Dana 44 Auburn LSD with 4.11 Gears and WARN manual hubs/spindle nut kit
- Dana 44 Master bearing kit
- GM Corporate 12 Bolt Detroit Locker with 4.11 Gears
- GM 12 Bolt Master bearing kit

My question is...What all else do I need (or should I get) to make sure, or at least try to help bolster this set up. Aside from getting 1 tons...:haha:

I was thinking a Traction Bar from ORD and welding the shaft to the housing would help with wheel hop. Does it help with rigidity? Would chromoly axle shafts make a difference?

I like the idea of 1 tons, but I already purchased so much for my current set up and I am not trying to add more weight.

That link did not help much...

Anyone else got experience or advice? If not it's cool. YOLO...I'll just run this and add some Yukon 30 spline shafts and a MOSER C-clip eliminator kit and hope for the best!

12 bolts are not really awesome for taking a beating, i suspect pinion bearing failure even if everything else was ok. If you are looking to keep six lug wheels, maybe a 14 bolt semi floater is in your future.

As for Moser components, 20 years of drag racing experience tells me never to buy them. I wouldn't use them if they were given to me.

My dilemma is that I did not do much research before spending all this money on upgrading what I have. My DETROIT Locker alone was over $637 :screwy:

I have done a lot of research this week and am pretty much screwed. Luckily I have not installed any of the crap I have bought. I will see if I can return the gears, LSD, Locker, bearing kit, and Manual hubs. Then use that cash towards a decent 1 ton set up...live n learn :thumb:

P.S. yeah the eliminator kit is for peace of mind. I do not want to be hauling ass and lose a wheel! But I also don't want to be leaking gear oil all over the desert lol
