Hey guys,
Quick hub question, may be stupid but at least its being posted in the newb section. So anyway my build is almost done for the summer but I came to a sticking point. 78k10 350/SM465/205 D44/14ff
I picked up the D44/14ff combo for $100. They came out of a 79k20 as per the seller. I tore down the axle, did balljoints and so forth. When i started putting the hubs back together I noticed some debris. There is a metal ring that snaps into a notch in the hub housing that basically crumbled.
I'm just looking at my best way out here. I dont want to buy new hubs if I dont have to but i figured something like that would be hard to locate or describe to a parts jockey. I could always head to the local junkyard and tear one down i suppose. I dont want to polish a turd and set myself further away from getting a 60 is all. any help would be awesome. I searched but came up with nada. napa's website isnt alot of help. the closest match i could find was part # 74 on Billavista's Dana 60 axle tech diagram:

Sorry if i failed to make sense here, it's 5am and i've been stuck at work because the server room is overheating....

The large snap ring that holds the locking hub inside the wheel hub body is what you are taking about and it makes sense. One from any 1/2 or 3/4 ton front axle will work. If you still have your 6lug axles you can pull one of the snap rings from it and put it your 8 lug axle. I can't help you with a parts source for this but like you mentioned above you can just go to a junk yard and snag one if you have to. Its not a big deal and in no way means you have to buy new hubs.

Awesome, thanks for the info, I'll have to snag one from the other 44 when I get out of here.
