I have a chance to buy what the seller describes as a posi unit from a Dana 44 front. He said it came from a '73 blazer.

You can see that the ring gear is chipped in one of the pictures, but that is not what I'm concerned about I can replace those. I'm interested in the posi.

I thought a posi unit would have plates and springs in it.

Is this some kind of gov-lock or some other kind of posi unit. It seems to have clutches in it.

Info please?? :)

Don't know, can't see the pics. If you post the actual pics instead of links you'll get more help.

I don't understand. I did attach the actual pictures. I also see them when I open this thread.

They are big, maybe they are not displaying correctly.

Do you see some kind of URL link????

I see pics... Track Lock. :thumb:

Thanks for the info.

Now...... any comments about the Track Locs? I know anything short of a detroit locker is..... well.... short of a detroit....

.. but anyone have good or bad experience with these?

They typically don't provide much "posi" action. It's better than an open diff, but I would not personally bother with it.

DAMN!!! Them are some big frickin' pics!!!

Oh yeah, BTW, Trac-Lok like the others said.

You have to be a paid member to view pics as he posted them. If he would upload them to his gallery or another pic hosting site and link them from there you would see them.

Had that in the rear of mine. Ok in the snow. Not much good offroad really. It might be OK in the front depending on what extremes you intend to go to in the dirt! IMHO

I know, but I figgured (correctly it seems) that he didn't. If you're going to put it in the "Garage" might as well get all the replies you can.

Umm, lets see I should pay to help him??? I'll buy another membership when I need to post something in another forum. Just curious, how many memberships have you bought here? I'll bet not as many as I have

Ok point taken. You've clearly been here for a long time and you had a good point about getting more responses from the non-member people too.

:usaflag:
