Most are 30 spline, there are older ones (mostly 1960's) that are coarse (19 maybe?) spline. The older D44's use a smaller u-joint too.

Spicer makes the best "cheaper", OEM type joint.

You'll still be breaking all the time with 39's

is the only benifit to high steer getting the tierod raised or is it also a benifit to have the draglink attaching at the same elevation as the tierod?? i guess i am asking if the geometry is better with high steer xover than just regular xover??

eh they do ok. I have broken a couple of sets and I am open. Pretty much anytime the tires are turned and it was a high throttle bouncing situation I just assumed one would let go. Mainly just trails, light rocks, and some mud. I think they are the hardest on ball joints and wheel bearings just because of the weight. I have learned to try and drive it without breaking and have gotten a lot better, but if your goals are running tires 36-37 and larger run the Dana 44 but carry spare shafts and joints and save for the 60. I have one in my garage under construction right now because I would really like to step up to a 40" tire:wink1:

i got 37s and will only be using it for the road and mud, no rocks at all..im going to a d60 even though i just spent 500 on a sf 14 and d44, im selling those and going to a d60 and 14 ff like i should have in the first place.
