Is the dana 44 from Dodge the same as the chevy dana 44???

One more thing theres a dana 44 nearby me but its missing the brake calipers, do the 10 bolt calipers fit??

The spring pads are .5in off on each side and the dodge dana 44 has studs on the pumpkin instead of a ubolt. A plus to them is that they have an outer axle seal so no dirt in the tubes.

As far as brakes I know the dodge ones have different brackets and calipers. You should be able to take the backing plate and bracket/calipers off your 10b and use them.

Just wondering, but why would you want to run a Dodge D44? If the 44 is like their 60, then the shock mounts are differn't too.

oh no just curious about the dodge's dana.

The question about the brakes are for a chevy dana 44, theres a nice one nearby but needs the calipers, and i was wondering if my 10 bolt's calipers would fit

Yeah I have my 10bolt calipers on my 44. That works no problem, not sure if you need to use your 10b brackets though, I did.

difference between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton

Ok, I would like to dive into this dana 44 thread a little more. I took a 14boltff and a dana 44 off a '78 burban. I cleaned up the 14 bolt and plan to put it under my k10 blazer tomorrow. the blazer already has a dana 44, but with a few differences.

The 44 that came with the burban has larger auto locking hubs and 8 wheel lugs.

The 44 on my blazer has manual hubs and a 6 lug wheel pattern.

I was wondering what the difference is between the two 44's, and am I able to use the disc brakes that are on my truck now on the burban axle.

You cant use your current rotors and calipers. The 1/2 ton stuff doesnt fit on the 3/4 ton because of the lug count on the rotors and the bracket for the calipers.

The manual hubs will work no problem though.

If you want 8 lug (sounds like that's what you're wanting) swap everything from the caliper bracket out onto your D44 but your existing calipers will still work. The main thing that is different is the caliper bracket which moves the caliper further away from the spindle centerline.
