i was just wondering whos stronger the dana or the corporate? what are the stong and the weak points of each?

adam

they are essentially the same, equally weak. main difference is ring and pinion and shafts are little different, pretty much everything else will interchange

thats what i was thinkin. i already rebuilt my 10 bolt now, im thinking about doing the crossover steering conversion

Dana 44 has 30 spline shafts, 10 bolt typically has 28. Later ones (89+) had 30 spline, but all shafts neck down to the same diameter, so I'd imagine with stock shafts it's a wash. Aftermarket shafts gain you more with a D44 or a 30 spline 10 bolt. 10 bolt has a bigger ring gear and larger pinion shaft. There was a great thread on pirate a few years ago showing pictures of a lot of the differences. I took from it that the 10 bolt was ever so slightly stronger, but not really where it mattered. They are both likely to break in the same way in the same situations, so it's not worth your time to swap from one to the other, or to seek one out over the other. Only clear advantage the D44 has to me is the flat top passenger knuckle for doing high steer...but that can be swapped directly to a 10 bolt.

what are the advantages of the crossover/ high steer conversion?
Crossover gains you a much longer drag link and better steering geometry. Less bump steer and it's more consistent as the axle flexes. High steer adds those advantages and gets the tie rod up out of the way more.
