always better deals than that out there.

thay look clean tho but price to high for most of us around here.

dosnt say if he includes spring plates for the axles to hold them to the leafs. there diffrent than 1/2 ton stuff.

and will not be bolt in for rear as you have 1/2 ton spring spacing and the rear is 1ton . spring perches & shock mounts need moved on axle. a 3/4 ton 14ff will bolt in your frame no mods tho.

year range will be diffrent brake lines for front . and front drive shaft will bolt up but rear will be diffrent joint size in the rear axle.

and if running h1 NON recentered you need drw axle front and dana 70 wide drw axle from pickup with box on it and swap to srw hubs on the dana 70 . or some guys do a van axle to get super close .

a little searching here will get you more info than i have givin you . but its a start to your question. good luck .

there you go.

2k is steep for those axles. They do look like they are in good shape and they are geared the same...

Awesome, thanks guys. The swap is still a long ways away for me, just curious when I saw those on eBay.

Where are most of you finding Dana 60's? Local Craiglist has been bare for the few weeks I've been searching.

How do you identify a 3/4 ton 14ff vs. a 1 ton 14?

The spring pad width is different, 1 tons run a narrower mounting width, a 3/4 ton has the same width as a 1/2 ton does. I can't remember the numbers but just measure yours and look for one the same. Worst case, if you have a welder and a grinder at the minimum it's not hard to move them.

Dana 60 prices can vary, I have gotten super lucky on all 3 of mine, I found one on CL w/4.10's for 250, bought one from a junk yard (they even pulled it) from a CUCV (4.56's) for 300 and I bought my entire K30 for $1100 with the 60/14 with 3.73's under it. All of them needed basic rebuilds and that's where it starts adding up.

14 bolts are a dime a dozen around here, I paid $250 for one with 4.56's and a Detroit in it that was CLEAN, they can be had at any local pick n pull for $125.

Generally a decent stock pair, needing basic stuff seems to go for ~$1000 around here

wish I could find those kinds of deals in cali.
most Dana 60s I see are gonna run anywhere from 700(for a drw that's in need of tlc) to 2000 for a geared/locked built one. That's not to say that you dont find the occasional one for a decent price.
might be a bit far from you but for $500 less :dunno:

I found mine on craigslist, worked a deal out and got a drw dodge Dana 60(only minor differences from a gm 60) for 650.

deals are everywhere, just gotta find em :haha:

If they are coming out of old 1986 CUCVs the D60 probably will need some work too.

If you look at the guys website they seem like they sell a lot of them and I would bet the axles shown are just static photos and not necessarily the ones you might by. I bought a complete 1010 ambulance from a military auction in Montgomery AL for cheaper then he is selling those axles for.

Never heard of a corporate 40 before. :haha:

That's what I was thinking . Maybe they name the pair differently when they come with a bent tie rod.

For the OP, I searched for about 2 years for my set before I found a good enough deal. I scored both with full rebuilds, lockers in front & rear, 4.56's, new rotors & brakes, and the entire cross over steering setup w/ steering gear for $1,500. Not the best deal of the century, but pretty good for a built, bolt in set (just had to move spring perches).

I got mine from a guy who just built the axles and rolled his rig after only a few hundred miles. He decided to part it out and was going to build an exocage Jeep...and I bought his axles.

As much as I'd hate to say it, check in on pirate 4x4 (if you can filter through the BS and attitudes), that's where I found my set. Good luck.

Assuming the axles are complete and in good shape (i.e. do not need to be rebuilt and ready to bolt in) it's not that bad of a deal.

The 14-bolt should have a Detroit Locker, which would cost you around $500 new. If you really wanted 4.56 gears that would probably cost $300-$400 just for parts to regear a pair of axles (4.56 do not seem to be that common in civvy versions, but are out there). Taking that into account you have $1,100 in just the axles. You could probably by a D60/14-bolt, 4.10 gear, open diff combo all day long for $1,100.

You can find better deals out there but it requires quite a bit of work and some time. Don't expect to find $300 Dana 60's on Craiglist left and right as they axles simply are not that common and a lot of people know what they have.

I spent around a year looking for a Dana 60 front for a reasonable price and finally found a ragged out complete and running K30 for $750 through one of the guy's in my off-road club (it was his uncle's). A friend of mine is a semi-professional picker (not officially but he makes a LOT of extra money buying and reselling stuff). Bet he's bought and sold 20 front D60's of all versions over the last several years. Never paid more than $500 for any of them and probably averaged $250/axle overall. He resells them for $700-$850 and that is with him wanting to turn them around within a week or so. The $850 one was the coveted and most rare '78-'79 Ford high pinion version with a Detroit Locker with the overall axle being in really good shape, and it still took him a couple weeks to get rid of it.

There is very few good reasons to go with the 14bsf axle. Having the locker in their for that price is attractive though as it is still an upgrade from the 10 or 12 bolt.
