Hey my search-fu is getting a little weak these days. what im looking for is what brand of 15x10. 8 lug would have the most clearance. Im looking at steel wheels but want to make sure that i start out with the most clearance possible. I was in a off road shop earlier and they were insisting on the 2 inch backspacing pro comp rockcrawlers. but this seems a bit excessive for 35x12.5r15 Any idea wich 15 had the most clearance factory?

Front axle is dana 60 srw out of an m1008. the 14ff clears with no issues so i hear.

Another favor if i might ask is can someone post a 1 ton with the 2 inch backspacing? maybe its just me but this sounds like the tires would stick way outside of the fenders.

Using the search ive noticed the phrases i needed to use for this are very very common and had a hard time finding any relevant information

I'm running pro comp rock crawler series 98's, 15x14 with 4.25 backspace they fit with some caliper grinding :grind:. Search the pirate sit for some good how to articles. Took me 2 hours, 1 7" grinding disk, and a six pack of "grinding fluid" :D :D.

I run a d60 with 15x8's. 4.25" backspacing, and my tires tuck nicely into the fenders at all 4 corners. I would have more rub issues with 2" backspacing. took more more like 3-4 hours of grinding, but I was using a cheap chinese 4.5" grinder.

I used a Dewalt XP 7" x 1/4" metal/stainless. A bit pricey but saves a lot of time.

I have 4.25 bs on my 15 x 10 rims. Besides the grinding, they work great, never get hassled for mud flaps.

I have the same front axle and used.....15x10 Eaton blackpowder coated wheels...3 3/8 backspacing. A real little bit of caliper grinding with a 4inch grinder and thats it. National has them cheap but they are special order and take a few weeks to get....heres 2 pics of them on my stepside with 39.5 15 15s and the other longbed i sold with 35 12.50s. The last one is a side shot so you can see how far they stick out , 2inches in the front and half inch in the rear with 35/12.5/15 bfg mudds.......

i have seen 4.25 b/s ground calipers. makes me wana barf. way to thin.

get 2" or mabye the 3.25 for rm b/s then go from there. much safer in the end.

Here are a few pics to help.

These are all 15x10 with 4.25 backspacing and 12.50 wide tires.

Thanks majorly for the pics guys. I have a set of 35x12.5r15 bfg km2s that im trying to run on my axles. the 4.56 gearing combined with the 6.2 that im swapping over is putting a damper on my highway speeds. oh and has anyone else noticed the 35 inch bfgs running really really short compared to the advertised size ?

Most tires sizes are short, only one ive seen that was real close are the firestone mts

I don't have anything useful to add I'm just curious, where are you at in Bama? Always good to have another local fella. :D

up here a little ne of Birmingham in Albertville. Theres rocks and mud a plenty. unfortuantly no good trails i have been able to find. but living in the country here most of the roads here require 30'' or taller tires or else the potholes in the dirt roads eat you up!

At least you have off road parks close by, there's nothing down here - every place worth riding is being shut down by construction or land owners. Of course, everything down here is either mud or mud. :D

Yeah, it's a member thing - you have email.

15x8 wheels with 2.75" BS. Pretty common and cheap (think I paid around $250 for a set of 4 from 4WP a couple of years ago).

I think 8" wide wheels work better on a 12.50" wide tire. They don't stick out any further than a standard BS 10" wheel. And they fit on my GM D60 front axle after about 45 seconds of cleaning up the casting flash on the calipers.
