Since I ended up buying a new dana 60 housing I've decided to do a few upgrades including the above mentioned. Can anyone explain to me the pros/cons of drive flanges and locking hubs. When this project is all said and done I will be running a twin stick np-205. I'm not sure if that has any bearing on my question.

I have ECGS drive flanges and Yukon locking hubs. I bought the flanges cause they are the be all end all solution to strength, but have gotten old having to pull them out to drive home. So I got the Yukons now. Running a locker, I'm worried about busting hubs. For a weekend trip, I'll probably throw the flanges in and be worry free all weekend or week. Otherwise, I've got trail spares, for my set of factory 30 spline shafts and my Yukon set with 35 shafts.

Also, the 35 spline is larger in diameter and barely fits through the spindle. So you can compare.

I got Warn Premiums on mine, no complaints so far with um, I prob woulda went yukon if they were out when I did the 35 spline outer's thought.

the 2 biggest things i always look for in a locking hub design is steel drive parts ( not aluminum like warn these days ) and if the hub ever was to fail how does it react when no dial face on it . older spicer and also some of the new stuff fail in the LOCKED position . warn hubs fail in the OPEN position.

these 2 things to me = strength and getting home faster.

and fyi if you find a set of spicers thay can have the inner gear resplined / broched to the newer 35 spline . i have had a set done and so have a lot of others.

also look in to the longfield spindle bushings over the needle bearing units that are factory .

I have the drive flanges now, i thought it was a great idea to have them since they are the strongest solution possible. what i didn't take into account is all the wear and tear they could cause on other parts - going down the highway with them wasn't so fun when my front driveshaft and transfercase EXPLODED under the truck at 75. yeah, i know, stupid me. i bought the yukon hardcores and i'm going to be swapping them on soon. it'll be nice to be able to unlock the front end, especially when i add the spartan locker.
