I just bought a Dana60 and whas wondering if I should use 15 inch wheels (I can get 15" wheels that are 18" wide for a good price). I have heard that I can buy some kit for it so I wont have to grind the brake calipers. Has somebody heard of it?

Thank, Jon H.

I have never herd of the kit you are talking about If I had to guess I would think it is a set of smaller breaks. I do know that grinding the calipers to fit 15inch rims is a pain in the ass.
PS: what tires are you planing on running that you would need 18inch wide rims?

There is a way to mount 3/4 ton rotors and calipers to a front 60, then you can run those wheels.

There is no way you could grind the calipers to fit an 18" wheel.

he is from iceland. thay prob use huge floatation tires.

15x18 will be full custom rims. then i would run drw= dually front hubs to get the whell mount face out +4" perside to help and then you might want to look into 3/4 ton brake conversion brackets for the front end. will get you smaller dia rotor and smaller caliper to help clear the rims. stock dana 60 brakes wont clear at all in that form. you would be grinding off all the caliper basicly.

does it have to be 15" rim? if not go bigger rim dia to keep the big 1ton brakes of the stock 60 stuff.

Yes, 15" wheels can be used on a D60 and has been discussed hundreds of times on this board (sorry, already did one smart ass response about a question asked hundreds of times so might as well continue :D).

Whether the rim is 8" or 18" wide, if the backspacing is the same the amount of grinding required to clear a D60 caliper is the same. I can't imagine the 18" rim in questions would have more than maybe 4" or so backspacing unless it was built for some completely custom application (i.e. not anytype of normal truck axle or setup).

Yes, you can buy aftermarket brackets that allow you to run the smaller 3/4 ton (D44/10-bolt rotors) and calipers to provide more clearance for 15" wheels with little to no caliper grinding.

Dually D60 hubs +18" wide wheels = really, really, really wide truck!

Thanks, that whas the thing I wanted to know. I do have Dana 44 on the K5 right now so all I need is the bracket, does anybody know where to get one (I didnt find it on ebay)?
