So i always had a idea there was a better pad option for us bendix brrake dana 60 axles up front .

Well inner is jhst dana 60 . No way to go bigger unless a kit .

Outer is different . . Looks like same radius but have yet to verify function . .

Pads are 85k30 or 93-02 3500-hd trucks .

so i was looking and saw that my new 3500-HD had a wrecker caliper option for the rear axle ( and a member pointed it out )

why has no one swapped these calipers on our dana 60 axles ? there a direct swap other than 2 pistion over the single piston we run on our 60 fronts and these 3500-HD use both front and back .

I have some of the wrecker 3500HD dual piston calipers that I have been going to see if they will work on a Dana 60 but haven’t gotten around to it yet. It is way too hot here in Texas to mess with now. I could send you one or a pair if you want to try it.

The last several Dana 60’s that I have been messing with are 79 Ford swaps into square body Duramax swaps. WFO brackets and 2001 to 2010 2500HD brakes work really good on them.

Ya they look about the same as them other than mounting style . I know most upgrades give bigger rotors also and this helps .

I am good for now on calipers thanks .

I hope what I said wasn’t confusing. The 1991 to 2002 3500HD dual piston wrecker package calipers are what I was offering to send you.

The 2001 to 2010 brakes work on Ford knuckles with a WFO bracket.

I have always skimmed over those 3500hd dana 80s and never actually pulled a caliper off. This is really pretty cool. I just assumed they were the same.

All other things being equal, the dual piston should technically squeeze harder than the single piston?

I think the only thing that might limit the 2 piston on our dana 60 is possible width over single piston .

I'm going to bet the surface area of the single piston is greater than the total surface area of the dual piston in which case the single piston would have better braking ability.

But with the ability to spread the clamping force over those pads with greater surface area?
I do wish I had more time to invest into this. Im intrigued to say the least.

There were a few people on 3500HD.com (which doesn’t exist anymore) that swapped their single piston calipers to the dual piston wrecker package that claimed that it stopped a lot better. I bought the calipers for one of mine but haven’t swapped them out yet. I have been meaning to try them on a Dana 60 first to see it they fit. I have a feeling that they may interfere with the knuckle. I think I have an extra knuckle and brake bracket that I can see if they work on.
