This is dumb, but I'm pretty sure I got the wrong calipers for my front D60. I ordered calipers for a '85 K30 with single rear wheels. Looking at the pictures on Rock Auto, it looks like I want dually calipers. Is that right?

Looks like what I really need:
getimage.php

Yeah. U need the one in the lower pic. Not necessarily dually. I ordered mine from rockauto for an 84 K30 srw. If I remember right, both varieties of caliper were listed under that. Not real sure why.

I got mine from Oriellys (auto parts store) was only ~$34 and gave them my POS rusted calipers for cores

Thanks. On Rock Auto at least, all the ones that look like that say they are for dually. If I'm not in a hurry I order stuff on-line since it's normally cheaper, and I can take my time deciding how far up the line to go. Sometimes it's a pain though, like right now. I bought the axle with no calipers, so I just went by application. :dunno:

They sold you C30 calipers not K30 calipers.

I just ordered off the web site. Unless their site is flawed, they think what I have is for a K30. I double checked after I realized something was going on. I can't explain it, but it'll cost me $15 in shipping. :doah:

c30 use the same brakes also ( bendix ) my buddys c30 flat bed has that same style as our dana 60 axles.

always check local parts stores people . rock auto or other mail order places are so big stuff like this happens . and computer programs get the parts listings mixed up a lot .

I just got dana 60 calipers from autozone few weeks ago for a buddys truck under 50 each if I recall same day on the shelf.

and in our world always check for GVW weight rating on 1ton stuff. I see lots of 3/4 ton stuff lumped in to 1ton sections . got to pick the right one. should be 4500lb front if I recall for dana 60 stuff .

Rock Auto only takes stuff back within 30 days without penalty. Lame policy.

I only have Autozone and Oreilly around here. Neither has anything in stock except their house brand or whatever it is. If I order a name brand the price is a complete rip compared to Rock Auto or anyone on-line ($70 plus core vs. $50 no core). I have no core...

Oh, and Rock Auto says they have no front calipers for my application. It goes back to the dually thing. All the ones that look right say dually and they are sticking to that. Autozone and other sites only bring up the right thing though, so RA must be confused on this one.

srw and drw use same calipers.

I would b!tch up a storm with them and call there crap out and get them to make it right . its there system that's wrong by the sounds of it.

Did you call RA to see if they would make it right for you if there really is an error? Sometimes places will eat the shipping if they've got a mix up on their side.

The technicality they got me on it that the listing for the part I ordered specified the width of the rear drum shoes, and it doesn't match the shoes I have. The question in my mind is whether any K30 trucks ever actually had 2.5" rear brakes.

The restock fee amounts to less than $5, so I guess it's a "pick your battles" type thing. If no K30 in the world takes these calipers, then maybe I'd have grounds to make them pay shipping and everything.

Amazon has always treated me great. I hate ebay/paypal but grudgingly use them sometimes because the have a lock on what they do. Rock Auto is now someplace in the middle. I've generally had good luck, but this kind of sours it.

I never seen a dana 60 take those brake calipers unless it was a aftermarket bracket and 3/4 ton rotor swap to clean 15" rims better.

and dodge caliper takes different banjo bolt thread and its location is different also .

but I did swap gm calipers on a dana front with new banjo bolts with he aftermarket brake hoses that were on it already .

K30 never had those fronts. Did C30 have them, dunno.

and a 2.5" rear shoe is a K20 I believe, like my 3/4 ton 14b was

I'd ask our buddy in the vendor forum, see if he/she can do anything

Picking the right calipers is really easy -

ALL GM D60's use the same caliper regardless of truck configuration, period. If you must shop (blindly) online then pick a '77+ K30 with the biggest brake option (JB8). You can't go wrong like this.

(edited to add year)

Yes, pre '77 used a D44. '77+ had D60's. Sorry, I edited my other post with the year.

I have always used an '84 K30 as a parts application when buying parts. Just pick SRW or DRW depending on what you want (rotors).

Okay. So if they show the small parts on an '85 K30, they are mistaken. Only D60 for that year.
