Thanks. I already ordered, but thankfully 1985 and 1983 show the same part #.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rock Auto came through on this and will be refunding me return shipping, since the listing appears to be in error. If anyone has a reference that definitively states which/whether 80's K30's had D44 front axles, I think they could use that info to correct the listing. Sounds like a potential problem with Raybestos, since no other manufacturers seem to be listing D44 parts for K30.

Thanks everyone for helping.

D60's in Chevy were only used 77-91 (old body style).

The open question is whether a K30 ever had anything other than D60. If so, did the 6.2 diesel ever come without it, in 1985? That's the listing in question.

No. From '77 to '91 ALL K30's ONLY used a D60 front axle.

The confusion with aftermarket parts companies may be that GM identified the axle based on the weight rating (4500 lbs) rather than using clear cut "Dana 60" terminology.

Yes see post #19.

'76 and older K30's did exist and used a D44.

Apparently they were badged as K30's, it blew my mind too. This is all info I've learned here over the years, I've never actually seen one to check since learning this.
