No. I also have seen those grooves and don't know why they are there other than mass production, but as far as the 60 having c-clips, no reason to have them. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

My 60 has them but I dont think it would be the end of the world if ya didnt run them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Okay, I'll ask the stupid question, what's the purpose of a c-clip on a full floating axle?

The c-clip can help hold the spindle seal on the inside of the stub, against the back of the spindle. It is there for a reason. Branndon- Take your stub to Napa and get the snap ring to fit it. They're pretty cheap. I bought 8 of them when I modified my 35 spline stubs for the full circle clips on the u-joints.

if it was rear axle then no C clips for sure, if is a full floater, not a car or 1/2 ton

but in front 60 axles i have no idea

hmm

thanks, that was my concern. keeping the dust shield secure. Thanks. CK5 rocks /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Guys, not to be an ass, but that's not a C-clip, it's a snap ring.

If you didn't have that c-clip in place that is why you got all that water in your hubs

I don't run them and water is never a problem for me. I don't even have the grooves on my stub.
