Dana 60 carrier bearing puller

I can't see eBay right now. Does it look like this...

http://extremecustomparts.com/i-361...ring-puller-tool-yt-p20-dana-30-44-60-70.html

That one just doesn't have the large white collar to do the newer 11.5 diffs, or the Dan 80s, etc. With the blue and orange collar you can do all of our standard one ton stuff, including pinions.

This one has the white collar to do pretty much everything light truck.

Edit: OK, I can see it now, it's the same company, that's funny! I bought mine from there and it's a quality piece. Anyway, those pictures will do pinion bearings, just not 11.5" diffs as I stated above. If you buy the white collar seperately it's about $100 or more, so think ahead if you ever want to work on an 11.5".

yup, same company just a bit cheaper on the eghey auction.. cool, I'll pull the trigger.... will that be a help for the 14ff too?

$250 shipped... ordered.... beats the $350 eastcoast gear wanted...

Durasolid was the old supplier for yukon

I probably would never order from them again, it took longer than they said, there is no phone contact and none of my e mails got responded too. But it came just a little late.

I have been doing gears for quite a while now. I can't believe I haven't bought this thing yet. Shoot the only reason I did is because I am doing gears on a very new JK and it the ol, you need a full install kit argument doesn't pan out when the thing has less than a 100 miles on it!

that tool will pay for its self the first time you need to use it. if you do gears get one !

and fyi thay work real good for pinion bearings that are pressed on also

i actually went to buy it from them, and it wouldn't let me check out... then I realized it was out of stock... :doah:

Yep, Durasolid is the factory that used to produce Yukon shafts years back. They went downhill/messed up casting/heat treat etc and Yukon dumped them. Now they sell parts that they probably don't even know the application for because they already have the designs. Search pirate for durasolid, sounds like they were ok while Yukon was able to QC them here but now that they sell them direct from India they are really bad.

As far as removing bearings, Dana seems to be the only one that makes removing carrier bearings a PITA. I've never needed anything other than a plain bearing splitter to do anything but a Dana axle, and some of those were still possible with a plain splitter. For Dana axles, buy/make a set of setup bearings and call it a day. For a professional I guess it makes sense to buy the fancy stuff but I've setup at least 10 D60's and plenty more Dana axles and never used or felt the need for any special tool for removing the carrier bearings. For the bearings that won't come off with a regular splitter, use setup bearings.

Exactly what I have done Chris, but like I said, I bought it because this JK I am working on right now has less than a 100 miles on it. While I have successfully pulled bearings off this thing makes it so easy.

It also saves a ton of time, which is good for me cause some people actually pay me to work on their stuff! :haha:

I had actually made a piece that would clamp the race down on the bearing on the carriers so there was very little chance of destroying the bearing. But it was only for a 60 would have had to make one for every different bearing.

Chris, you have more experience than me with the gear setup, and I respect that, but I think this is one of those things where once you have one, you wish you had it before. Seriously, pulling the bearings off the pinion or carrier is cake with this thing. The other big issue is probably that I don't have a press in my garage like you may have. I had to destroy the bearings to get them off my dana 60 carrier. I could not get the bearing splitter under them to even use a puller with the splitter. So if I did get setup bearings, then what if it's not perfect the first time I put the new bearings back in? I have to destroy them too? So I bought this, and pulling them off the next time took seconds.

This "extreme" brand puller tool is worth it. From a Dana 60 to a car 12 bolt, it made it easy. I have only done a few gear setups, and it was worth it for my time and lack of frustration.

guy i use to work with said waste of money.

that was untill i had a carrier bearing off in under 1 min start to finish .

he then said best money he would ever spend if he was going to be in the buissness any longer. he was close to retirment time. said i wished thay had those back in the day.

i would do it again if i needed one. :thumb:

looks like mine minus the big one.

and fyi get out the hammer and letter/# stamp set.

i got tired of figuring out the sizes on each clam shell half. so i stamped a S = small

l = large

on each half next to each other to make it 100x faster to id the size when you are workin with it.

also had to grind the flats of the big hex nut to make it more true. my socket would get wedged on at times.

and your best friend tub of copper anti seize with a little extra oil mixed in there to lube the threads good each few times you use it.

cool, thanks.. love any excuse to break out the stamp set! :haha:

I see Durasolid is still in business and wondering would you recomm them still or another brand?
I am looking into doing probably 3 sets of gears in next year or less and wanna make my life easy.
