Will a 4.56 and up carrier w. casting numbers 43678 and 5182 fit in my 1990 dana 60 front. Just wanted to make sure before I get it, I belive its a newer carrier, didn't know if there had been any changes...Dave

I'm bumping this cause I'd like to know if this carrier would still work in my front D60.
A D60 carrier is a D60 carrier, the only thing that matters is what spline count the side gears are. It doesn't know the difference between a front or rear axle.
Just looking for the larger carrier (4.56 up) with the right size right gear. Don't like buying things I don't understand

I just bought a D60 open carrier for a front chevy. 35 spline, 4.56 ^
I want to make sure it's for the higher gear set, what is the difference I can check? My "smaller" carrier is still in the axle, on jackstands at my Mom's house. I'd REALLY rather not take anything apart there.
