I am going tomorrow to pick up a dana 60 front end. I am concerned about it fitting in my truck bed. I am driving a Dodge mega cab. So it is a full width bed, just slightly shorter. I know the total length should fit catty cornered with some room to spare, but not sure what it means with the rotors on etc...

So am I nuts to try and squeeze a dana 60 into a short bed? I know a trailer would be better, but the one I have access to seems to be spoken for...

thanks for the help...

srw wheel mount to mount 69" plus 7-8" for the hub stick out for both sides.

this should get you close to seeing if it fits. :waytogo:

I brought mine home in a short bed stepside Ford. IIRC I had to leave the tailgate down, but isn't that what the tailgate is for?

who cares :) grab a BUNCH of tiedowns and getrdone. I threw mine in my short bed s10 that had a tool box in the back, which meant the tailgate was used. Then drove 1.5 hours home with it. Put the pumpkin on the inside, less weight on the tailgate. Oh yeah, and because it's so heavy and I didn't have any help once I was home, I drove like this for 10 days after getting it before I was able to have time (and a cherry picker) to get it out.

You are awesome. I will be driving a day or 2 as well. So thanks for the pic. It puts my mind at ease. As u know confidence is the feeling we have before we fully comprehend the situation...

My vote is if a guy cant figure out how to get it home he doesnt deserve a 60 :)
